Nielsen Senior DevOps Engineer in Bengaluru, India

Nielsen Marketing Cloud is a big-data group within Nielsen, a global measurement and big data analytics company. We are looking for a highly skilled Devops engineer with a strong passion for cutting-edge technologies.

We process 25TB of data each day in a highly distributed system. We work on 4 different AWS regions. We daily run 1000s of concurrent instances and millions of Lambda functions. We store over 3 Petabytes of data spanning hundreds of s3 buckets. We manage it all using dozens of Gitlab projects, Terraform, and in-house applications.

Job Overview

  • As a Sr DevOps engineer, you will be in charge of planning and deploying production servers in high scale on AWS, deploying services to Kubernetes, monitoring our infrastructure, and supporting our development teams.

  • Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop, automate, and enhance SaaS/PaaS platforms built on AWS

  • Lead discussions with developers, driving technical/architectural decisions relating to DevOps/AWS best practices

  • Deploy Infrastructure as code (IAC) to improve the availability, scalability, and efficiency of platforms

  • Ensure the availability, performance, scalability, and security of production systems

  • Build automated tests, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms to help assure the quality and stability of various services

  • Mentor and teach newer members of the Platform Operations team and other development teams about new tools and services we're using

  • Implement and manage continuous integration / continuous delivery (CI/CD) systems and methodologies (Gitlab, Kubernetes)

Technical skills

  • 8+ years of experience with Cloud services in a 24x7 uptime environment

  • Fluent in bash and SQL for automation. Python is an advantage.

  • Experience with automation technologies such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Gitlab, Jenkins (or similar platforms).

  • Experience with system monitoring tools, analyze and resolve complex infrastructure and application deployment issues

  • Experience in one or more SQL databasesA bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields, or equivalent work experience
